When ridden upright with the shorter purchase, the bit gives a Jr. Cow Horse feel — less gag, a quicker reaction, and a more balanced connection. This setup is ideal for a horse that already stays soft and doesn’t need as much lift, but benefits from a quicker response in the face and shoulders.
Flip the bit upside down with the higher purchase, and it rides more like a locked O-Ring, giving you extra lift and control through the front end. This makes it a great option for a horse that tends to get heavy, lean, or needs more help picking up its shoulders.
